Busy morning. So far I've decorated the tree outside with lights and a few ornaments, put up the last of the lights on the front windows and cleaned up and set the table in the back yard. I picked some persimmons and made a little arrangement on the table.

Then a friend and his grandson came to pick some persimmons. I looked out and saw K (who's about 70 yrs old) up on the ladder, leaning to pick the ones on the very top of the tree. When I went out, Gilly slipped out too. For some reason she really didn't like having two men in HER back yard. I've only seen her react like this a couple of times before (and both were directed at men). She barks, bars her teeth, backs away and then moves back towards them again. I don't think she's really attacking, but she is certainly upset. And the barring of the teeth is NOT her regular dobie smile.

Oh, yeah, I'm also waiting to hear from the plumber, who is suppose to come over to fix the sink in the 1/2 bath. I know him well enough that I can always put Gilly in [livejournal.com profile] dbubley's house and leave the back door open for him. And I can leave him a blank check. He's a good friend of [livejournal.com profile] clever_doberman and we've used him before, so I feel fine doing it that way, if I have to.

And [livejournal.com profile] stonebender is going to the movie with [livejournal.com profile] serenejournal's Munchkin The Elder this afternoon.

And today I also need to finally make the rum balls. And run to Coscto. I also wanted to get my hair cut but . . . something might have to go out of this schedule today.

[livejournal.com profile] dbubley woke up in lot of pain this morning and blood in her urine. I'm betting it's a kidney infection. She just called Kaiser and they want her in the ER asap, so I'm off to shower and run.

At least when it's spent in the ER. [livejournal.com profile] dbubley is home and in bed now. She has a very bad urinary tract infection. But first we had to spend 9 hours waiting, doing something, waiting, waiting and then waiting a little more. She was in excruciating pain much of the time, esp. the first 4 hours - that's how long it took to get seen by a doctor and prescribed some morphine while they waited for urine and blood test to come back. In between, she had to deal with 4 sticks before they got the IV in, 3 tries on the catheter insertion and laying on a very uncomfortable gurney for hours. Not like they make such a thing as a comfortable gurney, esp for fat folks with arthritis in their back. The second hit of morphine was more for the back pain then the original pain. They almost admitted her, but I think they were short on beds, which actually was fine with her. She was not looking forward to a night in the hospital. And it might have been spent on the gurney in the ER. The woman she shared the ER room with for the first hour had been waiting for a hospital room since the night before.

Anyway, I didn't really do anything but read, watch tv, talk some and help her move from wheelchair to gurney a few times. But I feel like I've run a marathon.

Tomorrow will be a very busy day as I try to get everything done for the party on Saturday. I love having my xmas open house and I know it will all come together.

The site of me color coding my database of the foods I'm serving at the party. How else will I know how many and what kind of plates or bowls I need? Me thinks he might find my system of putting post-it's on the empty plates to make sure I have enough room on the table, a great crack up too.
