At least when it's spent in the ER. [livejournal.com profile] dbubley is home and in bed now. She has a very bad urinary tract infection. But first we had to spend 9 hours waiting, doing something, waiting, waiting and then waiting a little more. She was in excruciating pain much of the time, esp. the first 4 hours - that's how long it took to get seen by a doctor and prescribed some morphine while they waited for urine and blood test to come back. In between, she had to deal with 4 sticks before they got the IV in, 3 tries on the catheter insertion and laying on a very uncomfortable gurney for hours. Not like they make such a thing as a comfortable gurney, esp for fat folks with arthritis in their back. The second hit of morphine was more for the back pain then the original pain. They almost admitted her, but I think they were short on beds, which actually was fine with her. She was not looking forward to a night in the hospital. And it might have been spent on the gurney in the ER. The woman she shared the ER room with for the first hour had been waiting for a hospital room since the night before.

Anyway, I didn't really do anything but read, watch tv, talk some and help her move from wheelchair to gurney a few times. But I feel like I've run a marathon.

Tomorrow will be a very busy day as I try to get everything done for the party on Saturday. I love having my xmas open house and I know it will all come together.

Oh goodness!

What a hellish experience...poor, poor Betty. And how taxing for you, too. I'm glad she's home in her own bed now, at least. And meanwhile, may your party preparations go smoothly! I'll be at home studying on Saturday, but I'll be looking forward to hearing what a good time everyone there has. :-)

The morphine seems to be doing the trick, now the cipro just has to kick the infections butt.

Sorry you can't take a study break to stop by but I understand how important it is to be prepared for tests. I'll try to take pictures during, but then I try that every year and get so caught up in talking that I forget to snap some. I will take pics of the decorations and then post the link to my Flickr site.

Good luck on your exams.

well, perhaps the one blessing is that it all came down last night and not tonite. and depending on how our Bubley feels, she can roll into the house or have private visitations in the back, with frequent deliveries of food.
