I'm out of a drug called copaxone, an subQ shot I take every night for my MS.  I thought I had one more left, so I didn't stop at the pharmacy tonight.  This is only the 3rd time since April 2000 that I will miss a dose.  I ran out one other time and I just spaced on it another time.  I hate the shot, it's a fairly large needle and it almost always hurts.  I'm sure missing one shot will not be catastrophic, but I know I will be a little hyper vigilant looking for any sign of an impending MS attack for the next few days. 

On other fun (not) health news, I went to the dentist today for a regular cleaning.  I've had some pain in the last few weeks and when my dentist took a look, she said I probably have a little crack in an old filling.  So tomorrow I go in to have it removed, she will put a temp in and fit me for a cap.  My insurance is on the calendar year; she is squeezing me in tomorrow so it will go against 2008 and save the $$ for future needs in 2009.  She's a very good doctor with a very good office staff.  Even with insurance my % will be about $350. 

On the actual good news health front - Pippin went to the vet today.  He took a scrapping for the 2nd ring worm test, but he thinks she looks great and suspects it will come back negative as the first one did.  She'll start her puppy class on Jan. 13th - finally!

I would be totally happy to go and pick up some copaxone for you, if that's something I can do. I think the hospital's outpatient pharmacy is open all night.

Thanks for the offer, but it's a special order med and unless they're willing to go to Fab 1 to get it, I don't think the outpatient pharmacy would help. I'm sure it will all be okay and I'll be in the area later today when I'm at the dentist on College. Hope everything goes well for you today. doctors, doctors, doctors - it's the end of 2008, so let's see a lot less of them next year. FYI: poor sogwife - no way to end or start a new year either.

I'm betting Misha is rid of the damn ringworm as well, but we have a few more weeks. let's just say we've gotten very close lately with my cold and her quarantine. we almost went to the movies today, but decided against it. the cold is much better today, TYVM.


I have a method of dealing with larger medical bills that perhaps you can use. since they accept payment after the fact (usually), I pay some percentage right away and then I figure out what kind of payment plan I can afford and just set it up with the bill payment program and that's that. they will get their money, and my bank account won't be empty.

I'm okay, there's a rough part that my tongue keeps going too, but it will get use to it soon - I hope. The permanent crown will be ready in a few weeks. I've taken one Ibuprofen and that seems to be doing it for the achy feeling.

More of the problem is our plumbing. There are holes and cracks in the old clay pipe and it runs into our neighbors yard. The people we called were here for several hours with the camera hose looking and figuring out where everything was. Juan Coronado (Star Rooter & Plumbing) will go to the city on Tuesday and try to see if it is our line or a city line that is involved. It looks like it goes through our neighbors yard. Da fun never stops.

have you asked to have a smaller needle prescribed? if the meds will fit through it, you can get a 30 gauge needle, i used those for a while and you pretty much don't feel them, should work unless the med is thick or has bits in it, I looked it up and don't see any reason why a small gauge needle wouldn't work.

Good News/Bad News: this drug only comes in pre-filled syringes. When it first came out it was in powder form and you had to inject sterile water into it, mix and then draw out. I think the needle was a little smaller, but I much prefer having the ready to use syringes. The drug is thicker, which is probably why they use the needle they do. I have 30 gauge needles for my insulin and, you're right, I almost never feel the stick.
