Standing out in the middle of a busy traffic lane, looking towards on-coming traffic, DOES NOT make a bus come any faster. The view from the sidewalk should be sufficient and it is definitely safer.
just like pushing the button to make the light change so you can cross the street doesn't actaully make the light change any faster (no matter how many times you hit it), it just makes the "walk" sign stay lit longer so you can make it across the street with a bit more time to spare.
I once heard a comedian say that pushing the button over and over while waiting for an elevator actually makes it come slower or not at all. It makes it afraid that there's 100's of people waiting to get on and it doesn't want to go there.
What if the bus sae the person in the street waiting, so it panicked and turned around before it got to the stop.
BTW: I remember where and when this mini rant began, cause I was with you when the woman was out in the street..8)
