My back and knees were hurting this morning so
dbubley and I decided not to go to the SF Pride Parade today. Instead we had a lovely lunch at a noddle house and then shopped for dinner. I've never been to a Pac'N'Save before and somehow in the "fun" of packing my own groceries and getting to the van, my wallet fell out of my fanny pack. Didn't figure this out until I got home and heard a pill bottle fall out and then I realized I had not zipped it all the way closed. When I looked for my wallet it was gone - we drove right back to the store but at least 20 - 30 minutes had passed and it was not on the ground Checked with the store and it had not been turned in. So I've spent the last hour calling every card/id I believe was in it to cancel them. I have an appointment at the DMV tomorrow to replace my DL.
The only thing I will not be able to replace it an old Next credit card that had Gilly's picture on it. Several years ago they were offering credit cards on line with a picture of your choice.
dbubley ordered one with Gilly's pic on it. Within 6 months Next went under and sold their contracts to another company that dropped all but 10% of these new accounts. We were dropped but I loved to carry the card anyway to show off our little girl. This was the photo that had been posted on-line at the Dobie Rescue site, so it was the first look we ever had of her.
Funny, when my mother lost her wallet many years ago (maybe 30 years) she lamented most about missing all the school pictures she carried of her daughters. I don't believe she even had a credit card and she didn't drive. She rarely needed to show any kind of id - after all the bank and her doctor knew her and she paid cash for everything else.
Now, here I sit - feeling naked. No atm card, no DL, no medical card, no credit card. I feel like I don't exist. And I've lost the Gilly picture. My mom would have understood about the picture.
