The most memorable line from "The Devil Wears Prada", which we went to see this afternoon.

[personal profile] stonebender & [profile] dbubley liked it well enough,   [personal profile] clever_doberman was more lukewarm about it and I believe that is 106 minutes I will never get back.   I didn't care about one person in the film.  Meryl Streep was a bitch of a boss and she did an excellent job of it, but even that performance didn't save the movie for me.  If you're into fashion, there's a lot of eye candy.

Thanks for the info

I really didn't have any wish to see it and now I am pretty sure I didn't miss anything.

nope, TTF, you didn't miss a thing.

the more I think about it, the less I liked it. I think there was supposed to be some sort of heartwarming arc of girl gets caught up in the fast paced world of fashion, learns her lesson, walks away and is a better person for it. but mostly it was stupid and that arc was so flat it was hard to see. ooooh, she dumps the cute guy that could help her career, what a bold move.

Meryl Streep is so much better than this film. trivia question: was that her real hair, or did she wear a wig?

I thought it was her real hair. Do you know the answer?

Eh! I only liked it because I went in with rather low expectations to begin with. I only knew what Prada was because I'd seen Sex In the City. I figured it wasn't my kind of movie, but Meryl Streep might be good. The movie was more predictible than I thought. Meryl Streep was good at being a bitch, but the movie wasn't nearly as good as I thought it might be, even with my low expectations, I just wasn't disappointed. I think they relied too much on Meryl Streep. The boyfriend had beautiful eyes. I did think to myself, "Well, at least it's not an Austin Powers movie.

I liked the line where the bitch coworker whines bitterly at the heroine, "You don't even deserve it! Why, why you eat carbs!"
